Dream Girl 2 BO Day 1 Estimates: Will Ayushmann Khurrana starrer earn in double digits?

Dream Girl 2 debuted in theaters on August 25. The film is a follow-up to Dream Girl (2019) and stars Ayushmann Khurranna in the lead role. While the actor was accompanied by Nushrratt Bharuccha in the first part of the movie, she was replaced by Ananya Panday in the second installment. 

The plot of the two movies seems somewhat similar as Ayushmann is playing the role of Karam in both, who assumes the identity of a woman named Pooja and tries to keep it secret. Considering the prequel was a hit at the box office, there are expectations from the second part. Hours after the film's release, the early estimates of the opening day are here. Early estimates for Dream Girl 2

Trade analyst Sumit Kadel posted on X that Dream Girl 2 will be doing Rs 9.5-10 crore business on its opening day. He emphasised that the film would earn Rs 38-40 crore on its first weekend. He labeled Dream Girl 2 as Ayushmann Khurranna's big comeback after a string of failures at the box office. 

Kadel's post read, "#DreamGirl2 shouldn’t be underestimated Film is eying Day-1 Biz in the range of ₹ 9.50 -10 cr nett as per early estimates, almost same opening as Part-1.. ₹ 38-40 cr weekend is ensured now. @ayushmannk is BACK IN FORM."

Will the actress swap affect Dream Girl 2 business? 

Nushrratt Bharuccha was replaced by Ananya Panday in Dream Girl 2. When asked if the change will affect the film’s box office collection in any way, Sumit Kadel told Republic Digital that the female lead will not play a major role in the Dream Girl franchise. It’s all about Ayushmann Khurrana, as he’s the lead actor. Apart from him, there are Anu Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Vijay Raaz, Rajpal Yadav and Asrani leading the charge.

According to Kadel, the ensemble cast is "fantastic" and Raaj Shaandilyaa is a "great director" who’s been working on comedy genre for a long time. Given all that, the film might do a weekend opening of Rs 35 to 40 crore. It might as well go on to do Rs 80 crore during its lifetime.
