Farah Khan-Sajid Khan's Mother Menka Dies From Prolonged Illness, Rani Mukerji Arrives For Funeral
Bollywood sibling duo Farah Khan and Sajid Khan's mother Menka Irani died at the age of 79. She passed away in the wee hours of July 26.
Filmmaker Farah Khan's mother Menka Irani breathed her last on July 26. As per media reports, she died of an age-related illness at 3 am. Just a few days back the Om Shanti Om director took to her Instagram account to pen a note for her mother and shared that she was battling with health-related issues.
Rani Mukerji, Maniesh Paul and Fardeen Khan arrive to pay last respects to Farah Khan's mother
Rani Mukherji was among the first celebrities to arrive at Farah Khan's residence to pay her last respects to her mother. The actress sported a white outfit as she condoled the family for their loss. As per media reports, Menka Irani was unwell and in the hospital for a few days. She is survived by her children Farah and Sajid Khan.
Other celebrities who arrived at the funeral were Fardeen Khan, Maniesh Paul and Vikram Phadnis. Neelam Kothari and Seema Sajdeh were also spotted outside the choreographer-turned-filmmaker's residence. Bhushan Kumar, who recently suffered from a family tragedy himself, also arrived to pay his respects to Menka. His cousin Krishan Kumar lost his young daughter Tishaa just a few days back. On July 12, Farah Khan took to her Instagram account to pen a note for her mother on the occasion of her birthday. The filmmaker shared a couple of photos with her mother with a caption in which she talked about ‘taking mothers for granted’. Though she did not disclose what illness Menka was battling, Khan mentioned that she was discharged from the hospital that day.
The director wrote in the caption, “We all take our mothers for granted..especially me! This last month has been a revelation on how much i lov my mom Menka.. she s been the strongest, bravest person iv ever seen.. sense of humour intact even after multiple surgeries.” She continued, “Happy birthday mom! Today’s a good day to come back home ♥️ can’t wait for you to get strong enough to start fighting with me again.. i Lov u”
