Gadar 2 box office collection: Sunny Deol film enters ₹400 crore club in just 12 days

Sunny Deol starrer Gadar 2 continues its dream run at the box office. Despite fewer screens, courtesy of new theatrical releases, the Anil Sharma directorial has been doing phenomenally well at the domestic box office. Showing no signs of slowing down, the film has in twelve days since it hit the big screens, breached the ₹400 crore mark, as per a report by industry tracker Sacnilk.com. 

Directed by Anil Sharma, the film is a sequel to the 2001 blockbuster Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. The movie released in theatres on August 11. Set in 1971, Gadar 2 follows Tara Singh (Deol)'s journey to Pakistan to rescue his son, Charanjeet Singh, played by Utkarsh Sharma, from the Pakistani Army. It also features Ameesha Patel, Manish Wadhwa and Gaurav Chopra.

Gadar 2 breaches ₹400 crore mark in just 12 days

In a press note, the makers said Gadar 2 collected ₹12.10 crore on Tuesday which took its box office numbers to Rs 400.70 crore nett. The makers claimed that "no other Indian film has amassed over Rs 10 crores nett on second weekdays". Additionally, with a staggering total of ₹400.70 in twelve days, Gadar 2 also became the fastest Hindi movie to breach the ₹400 crore mark at the domestic box office, sharing the record with Siddharth Anand-directed Pathaan which amassed ₹429.9 crore, as per Sacnilk.

Gadar 2's box office records

With a collection of ₹40.10 crore on the opening day, the Sunny Deol starrer became the second-highest opener of 2023 after Pathaan (₹57 crore). The film currently also holds the record of the highest-grossing movie on Independence Day (₹55.4 crore). As per trade analyst Sumit Kadel and industry tracker Sacnilk, the film became the highest second-weekend grosser with a collection of ₹90 crore approximately, beating Baahubali 2's record of ₹80 crore for its Hindi version.

Gadar 2 vs OMG 2 box office collection

In twelve days, while Gadar 2 collected ₹400.10 crore, Akshay Kumar starrer OMG 2 minted ₹120.62. Both films were released in theatres on August 11.
