The box office is getting ready for a juggernaut between Gadar 2 and OMG 2, on the Independence Day weekend. Both the franchise films will hit theatres on the same day -- August 11. 3 things you need to know:

- The advance booking figures show Gadar 2 having a clear edge over OMG 2.
Gadar 2 triumphs over OMG 2 in the advance booking
With both movies releasing on the same day, India is preparing for its own Barbenheimer. Thus, a comparison between the business of the two movies is bound to happen. As per the industry tracking site Sacnilk, Gadar 2 has already sold a total of 3,10,434 tickets on the first day of its release. The maximum contribution of the ticket sales for the film comes from the National Captial region followed by Mumbai.
Gadar 2 has shown a stronghold among the Cineplex audience. Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh shared that the movie has sold a staggering 1,82,609 tickets through national chains of multiplexes. The Sunny Deol film has already done a business of Rs 7.9 crores through advance bookings. A U/A certificate, a patriotism-driven plot, nostalgic value and a family-friendly genre can be attributed as reasons behind the film’s steady business.
OMG 2 catches up to Gadar 2, slowly but steadily
While the advance booking numbers of OMG 2 do not show such a staggering figure, the Akshay Kumar movie is picking up pace closer to release. As per Sacnilk, the film has already sold 41291 tickets for the first day of the film’s release. The movie has minted Rs 1.28 crores through advance bookings.
As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film has sold 24,675 tickets through national booking chains. For the unversed, the movie has been cleared with an ‘A’ certificate, deeming the film to be fit to be watched only by 18 years and above audience. However, Akshay Kumar’s popularity and the recall of the first film Oh!My God will help aid the film’s business.
