Ganapath box office collection day 4: Tiger Shroff starrer fails first Monday test

On its opening day, the film minted around Rs 2.5 crore in India. Since then, Ganapath witnessed a gradual downfall in numbers, failing Monday test.

Tiger Shroff, Kriti Sanon and Amitabh Bachchan starrer Ganapath is facing a tough time at the box office despite an extended weekend, courtesy of the Durga Puja and Dusshera festivals. On its opening day, the film minted around Rs 2.5 crore in the domestic market. Since then, Ganapath has witnessed a gradual downfall in numbers, eventually failing the Monday test.

As per the early estimates reported by Sacnilk, the film minted ₹1.30 crore on the fourth day of its release. The total collection currently stands at just ₹8.30 crore. Ganapath got 10.62 per cent Hindi occupancy, with night shows selling the maximum number of occupancy - 12.38 per cent.

Vikas Bahl admits to having doubts working on Ganapath

Amid films' low earnings at the box office, the director opened up about the challenges he had while filming Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon starrer. The filmmaker admitted that imagining a setting in a futuristic film was the 'toughest task' for him. He told DNA, "Every second of this journey I felt ‘kyun ye panga le liya (why did I get into this)’. I thought I could have stayed in my comfort zone."

Directed by Vikas Bahl, Ganapath - A Hero Is Born is set in 2070 AD. It tells the story of a fighter who embarks on a journey to discover his destiny. During the promotions, the makers described the actioner as a “futuristic action thriller” which sees a fighter’s rise. Speaking to IANS, when Tiger opened up about his role in the film, he said, "It's so different, I have never played so many shades before. I have always been very one track straight forward hero, this is more of an underdog becoming a hero and yes, there is a dark side of him too, and there is a very child-like side of him too as well."

The film marks Tiger's second collaboration with Kriti after Heropati (2014), while the first collaboration of both actors with Amitabh Bachchan.
