Haddi trailer out: Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays an underdog transgender with a revenge plan

The makers of Haddi released their official trailer this afternoon. Haddi stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the titular role, while actors like Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub and Ila Arun also play prominent roles in the film. The film is directed by debutant Akshat Ajay Sharma.

Nawazuddin plays an avenging transgender in Haddi

The 2-minute-long trailer of Haddi gives a detailed glimpse into the protagonist’s journey and the world it is set in. Haddi is a dark violent saga set against the backdrop of modern ruins in NCR, Gurgaon, and Noida. The official statement by the makers describes the film as a ‘gritty and twisted revenge drama that skilfully exposes the intricate nexus of the criminal underbelly operating throughout the capital city.’

As per the synopsis, the film delves into the life of Haddi, a rookie transgender who comes from Allahabad to Delhi to join a gang of transgenders and climbs up to the top of the criminal food chain to avenge his family who was wronged by a mighty powerful politician.

Haddi special kind of revenge drama: Ila Arun

Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub, who was recently seen in the web series Scoop, said about his upcoming film, “Haddi is an exhilarating journey, captured with remarkable aesthetics. Akshat, our debut director, has brilliantly helmed the project, and the entire cast has invested all their passion, effort, and affection into this endeavour.”

Speaking about her role, Ila Arun informs that she is the only female artist in the film. She adds, "Essaying Revati Maa was very special as she is an important character in the film." Talking about the film, Arun said, “Haddi is a special kind of revenge drama film. It depicts gang war, emotions, truth about life and reality, power structure, and how the corrupt society is encashing the weaknesses of transgenders and their fight for rights.

The film is co-written by director Akshat Ajay Sharma and Adamya Bhalla. The streaming platform has also announced the premiere date of 7th September. Haddi will stream on the streaming platform Zee 5.
