Hrithik Roshan reveals how he came up with a unique voice to Koi Mil Gaya character Rohit
This week will mark the 20-year release anniversary of Koi Mil Gaya. Hrithik Roshan featured opposite Preity Zinta in the movie.
Koi.. Mil Gaya, Rakesh Roshan's iconic Sci-fi drama film, completes 20 years of its release this week. Actor Hrithik Roshan recently opened up about how he underwent various transformations to prepare for the role of Rohit Mehra, the film's protagonist.

Rohit's crying voice became Hrithik's usual voice
Hrithik Roshan’s performance in the film stood out. It required him to undergo immense physical transformation. he also had to adopt the approach of method acting to portray Rohit Mehra, a mentally challenged boy who has grown up physically but remains child-like in his intellect and demeanor. Recently, while speaking to Film Companion, Hrithik opened up about the effort it took to play Rohit, and specifically, how he found the perfect voice for the character.

The Jodha Akbar actor said, “When I was crying as Rohit, There was a certain voice, which had a crying-like tone, that came out. The vocal chords go lower because it’s a cry and that became Rohit’s normal voice.” Hrithik added that he took off from there and further built upon Rohit’s vocal intonation, and how the said crying voice became the base style for Rohit’s speaking style. He added, “He talks like that, but it does not sound like a cry anymore when you do it."
This was not the only change that Hrithik underwent in order to perfectly fit the bill as Rohit. The actor, known for his well-built physique, had to appear somewhat thin and younger-looking for this part. Reportedly, the actor first attempted to lose a little weight, but that didn’t suffice. It was then that he decided to wear loose, baggy clothes and sport a side-sweep hairdo so that the schoolboy look appears authentic.
PVR re-releases Koi Mil Gaya at all major theatres
To celebrate the 20 years of Koi Mil Gaya release, PVR had earlier announced its plan to re-release the film at all major venues across the country. On Friday evening, Hrithik Roshan posted a video as well, sharing his excitement about the news.

Koi Mil Gaya is directed by Rakesh Roshan, in which Hrithik co-starred opposite Preity Zinta. The film, made on a budget of Rs 30 crore, earned over Rs 47 crore nett at the box office.
