Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR are coming together for the sequel of the hit film War. Earlier, several photos of Ayan Mukerji from Europe went viral hinting that he was scouting shoot location in Spain. Now, a new update has been reported and this time it is regarding the release date.

When will War 2 release?

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his X (formerly Twitter) to announce the release date of War 2. The film will hit the theatres in 2025 a day ahead of Independence Day, August 14. It is the sixth film in YRF Spy Universe after Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan and the recently released film Tiger 3.

"#BreakingNews… YRF ANNOUNCES ‘WAR 2’ RELEASE DATE: INDEPENDENCE DAY WEEKEND 2025… The sixth film from #YRFSpyUniverse - #War2 - now has a release date… Get ready for mayhem at the #Boxoffice  on 14 Aug 2025 [Thursday]… #AyanMukerji directs the film that’s produced by #YRF," read the caption.

Hrithik also teased his appearance in Tiger 3 along with SRK, hinting towards the next movies in the spy universe.

About War 2

In the film, Hrithik will be reprising his role of Hrithik played the role of Major Kabir Dhaliwal, a RAW agent who went rogue. It has been reported that Kiara Advani will be joining the cast as the lead and Jr NTR will essay the role of an antagonist. A source told Pinkvilla, "Aditya Chopra is going all out to make this film the slickest and the coolest action entertainer that this country has ever seen.”

Meanwhile, War which released in 2019, tells the story of Hrithik’s character, who goes rogue to cleanse the intelligence system of the country of traitors and to identify the infiltrators in the elite forces.

The film broke all opening day and weekend box-office records for a Hindi film before it was surpassed by Pathaan. It eventually emerged as a major success becoming the highest-grossing Indian film of 2019 and the 17th highest-grossing Indian film of all time.
