Hrithik Roshan starrer Krrish 4 delayed? Filmmaker Rakesh Roshan responds

Krrish 4, the next installment of the Krrish franchise, has been one of the most awaited movies for many years now. Fans were particulary excited after Hrithik Roshan made a social media post a few months ago where he mentioned that he was on the lookout for a new director for their successful superhero franchise. The said post sparked a lot of curiosity amongst fans who were now eager to get further details about Krrish 4.

• Krrish 3, the last film in the franchise, released 10 years ago in 2013.
• PVR has planned a re-release for Koi Mil Gaya from August 4-9 at all its major venues, to celebrate 20 years of the film

“It will take at least a year, but it’s happening”

In a recent interview with an entertainment portal, filmmaker Rakesh Roshan finally gave clarity about the status of Krrish 4. He stated that it will take atleast a year before they begin any work on the much-awaited addition to the Krrish franchise. "But it's happening," he added.

Rakesh Roshan expressed his concerns regarding the increased expectations of the audience in terms of visual effects and creating a visual spectacle, especially with the success of the Marvel universe franchise in India. He noted, how, while Hollywood films have an average budget of 500 million dollars, Indian films stand nowhere close in terms of its resources. He also talked about how the world has became smaller, and how children now prefer to watch Hollywood films. In such an atmosphere, the filmmaker said he remains doubtful about audience returning to theatres in huge numbers, like it was the norm before pandemic.

Celebrating 20 years of Koi... Mil Gaya 

Recently, PVR announced the re-release of Koi... Mil Gaya at all its major venues in order to celebrate 20 years of the iconic film by Rakesh Roshan. Koi... Mil Gaya had not only revived Hrithik Roshan’s career, but also led to spawning of the Krrish franchise in coming years. It should be noted that Krrish 3, the last film in the franchise, released 10 years in 2013 and was a huge box-office success.
