Imran Khan, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na director to reunite after 15 years for a spy thriller?

Imran Khan got social media users guessing after hinting that he would be making an acting comeback. The actor who rose to fame with Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na (2008) was last seen in Katti Batti (2015) opposite Kangana Ranaut. The latest buzz suggests that he is planning to end his eight-year acting sabbatical with an upcoming web project.

Imran Khan has reportedly teamed up with Abbas Tyrewala for a web series. Interestingly, he made his Bollywood debut in Tyrewala's Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na opposite Genelia Deshmukh. Fans have been hoping for the actor to return to the big screens and it might happen sooner than later.

Of late, Imran has been interacting with his fans on social media, fueling the buzz of his imminent comeback. Some social media users specifically asked the actor to star in a sequel of any of his films. Replying to this, the actor wrote, “To whom it may concern; I hear you. And I'm working on it. Thank you for being so patient with me.”

According to a report in Pinkvilla, Imran Khan is in talks with Abbas Tyrewala for a spy action drama series. A source told the portal that the duo has been discussing this project for a while and things are progressing positively. 

As per the source, the upcoming venture will see Imran stepping into the shoes of an intelligence officer, a role that will reportedly demand a significant physical transformation. Set against the backdrop of South Asian counter-intelligence, the espionage thriller is in its pre-production phase and is slated to commence filming towards the end of this year.

The report also stated that Abbas will pen the script and serve as the showrunner. Reportedly, Siddharth Roy Kapur is producing the project under the banner of Roy Kapur Films.

After making his acting debut as a lead actor in the film Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (2008), he was seen in films like I Hate Luv Storys (2010), Break Ke Baad (2010), Mere Brother Ki Dulhan (2011), Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu (2012) and Gori Tere Pyaar Mein (2013) among others.
