Jackie Shroff recently opened up about why he always wears a scarf around his neck. He revealed that there is a connection between his gesture of wearing a scarf and his late mother. The veteran actor also recalled the time when he used to live in a chawl and said that everything is still emotional about the place.

Why does Jackie Shroff wear a scarf with every outfit?

Speaking to Siddharth Kannan, Jackie Shroff revealed why he always wears a scarf. Responding to his question, the Hero actor shared that it reminds him of his mother, who is no more.

The actor revealed that when he was young he used to hold his mother's saree as it gave him peace. However, as he grew older, he got used to soft clothes, and this is why he likes to always pair his clothes with a scarf or any soft clothes. “Maa ki saree ko aise pakad k aise padde rehte the toh mujhe shanti milti thi, toh soft kapado ki aadat ho gyi and ki thoda sa soft kapda ho sath."

He added that as a kid, he liked three colours in bandhani and even used it in his 1995 film Rangeela, co-starring Urmila Matondkar and Shefali Shah. “Wo Rangeela picture me bhi use kiye hoon mai. Baki toh samajhiye Dev saab (Dev Anand) ka bada fan hoon mai (I used it in my film Rangeela too. Rest, I am also Dev saab’s fan),” he added.

Jackie Shroff recalls living in a chawl for 33 years

In the same interview, he also recalled living in a chawl and revealed that he recently visited the place to meet his aunt on her birthday. When asked if he gets emotional about visiting his old house, the Khal Nayak actor said that every corner of a chawl holds a sentimental value. 

“Har cheez senti hai, udhar ki ek-ek baatein senti hai. 33 saal vahan raha hu toh apney puraney ghar me jaa k votoh hoga he. Vo ek kholi alag thi. (Everything is emotional about that place. I have lived 33 years in that place so revisiting the old house will make anyone emotional. That one house was different).”
