Jigra has been struggling to mint money at the box office after its Dussehra release. Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina feature in this jailbreak drama but the audiences have not reacted positively. As a result, the film has managed to collect ₹19.85 crore in six days, emerging as one of the biggest disasters of the actress' career so far. Separately, Jigra is mired in controversies related to casting and allegations of fake bookings, casting even more doubt over its future.

Meanwhile, director Vasan Bala has stood by his team's side and penned a short and sweet message for them.

Vasan Bala reacts to Jigra controversy

Vasan Bala has been sharing positive reviews of Jigra on his Instagram stories regularly, refusing to bow down to the negativity surrounding the film. In one of the posts, he wrote, "They have my back. Kujj an howe ya sab ho jawe. No matter what." He also tagged Alia in the post and the film's producer.

This post comes amid speculation that the director had a fallout with Alia and the producer amid the film's box office debacle. It seems an attempt to douse the fire that has risen in the wake of the film's release.

Controversies surrounding Jigra

Actor Bujou Thaangjam, known for his roles in Mary Kom and Shivaay, has accused the casting team behind the Alia Bhatt starrer Jigra of unprofessional behaviour. According to Bujou, he was asked to be available in December last year to shoot for the movie but never received a follow-up call.

Other controversies include the negativity surrounding Alia’s casting in the movie and actor Divya Khosla Kumar’s comments that Jigra, a jailbreak drama, resembled the plot line of her last film Savi. The makers are also accused of inflating box office collection amid mixed responses to the film.
