Kaappaan is all set to release on September 20, 2019. Kollywood fans are gearing up for the multi-starrer film with Suriya, Mohanlal, and Arya in the lead roles. The venture is directed by KV Anand and is produced by Lyca Productions.

Kaappaan is one of the most anticipated projects of Suriya. It also marks the return of Malayalam superstar Mohanlal to the Tamil film industry after a brief hiatus. This action-thriller also stars Boman Irani in a supporting role. The film is shot at multiple locations including New York, Brazil, New Delhi, and Hyderabad. 

About the plot 

Kaappaan is based on a real-life incident of Special Protection Group (SPG). Mohanlal plays the role of a Prime Minister in the film. Suriya, on the other hand, plays the role of an SPG officer. Arya plays the role of Mohanlal’s son in the movie.

The trailer

Preparing for the role, Suriya stayed at the SPG camp in Manesar, Haryana. The director KV Anand also gathered information about the SPG by visiting the Prime Minister’s office numerous times. This helps one to understand that the film will be true to its plot. The trailer was packed with action sequences that are totally gripping for the audience.

In the trailer, it is also seen that Suriya’s character moves from a farmer to an SPG officer. He also was seen having different layers to his image. Suriya has expressed to a news portal that he is game for stories that are set in a new backdrop or deal with something that has not been done before. He spoke about how there are a lot of unsung heroes in society, and those stories inspire and motivate him. 

Kaappaan will also be releasing in Telugu as Bandobast. The film will be releasing in over 3,500 screens. Kaappaan is also coveted as a ‘make or break’ situation for Suriya. The Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam industry awaits the release.
