Rakesh Roshan recalls risking son Hrithik's career with Koi Mil Gaya: Thought what if...

Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta's film titled Koi Mil Gaya was a blockbuster at the box office back when it was released in 2003. The film was a turning point for both Hrithik and his father's career as a filmmaker at the time. As the film completed 20 years in the industry, Rakesh Roshan recounted how he took a risk with his son's career.

Rakesh Roshan on risking Hrithik Roshan's career

Bollywood Hungama reported that Rakesh Roshan was worried about his son's career and thought he risked it all. He said that the thought about risking his son's career did occur in his mind but when he took the first shot of the film, he felt confident. He recounted saying to Hrithik, "We will hit it this time."

Unfortunately, after Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai Hrithik's films were not doing great. Even his film Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon, that released before Koi Mil Gaya, also did not perform well at the box office. He mentioned, "And I thought, what if nobody comes to watch my film." Nevertheless, the film went on to become a huge success at the box office and remained housefull during the initial days. 

Koi Mil Gaya to re-release in theatres on 20th anniversary

Hrithik Roshan's hit film Koi Mil Gaya will re-release in selected cinema halls across 30 cities in the country on August 4. The film will mark its 20th anniversary on August 8. Koi Mil Gaya revolved around the life of Rohit who had mental disabilities. However, after befriending an alien from the woods, his life changed. The movie was so successful that makers made two sequels after it - Krrish and Krrish 3.
