Ranbir Kapoor headlines the Snadeep Vanga Reddy-directed film Animal. Released on December 1, the film scripted history at the box office by becoming one of the highest-grossing films. Despite doing a domestic business of over ₹500 crore, the film received flak for being ‘misogynistic’ and ‘sexist’. Amid the controversy, the makers of the film hosted a grand success bash on January 7. Addressing the same, Ranbir Kapoor made a bold statement at the event.

Speaking at the success party of Animal on Saturday night, Ranbir Kapoor expressed gratitude to the director for making him part of his vision. "I want to thank all of you for being here today to celebrate Animal. It is a film that a section of people had an issue with but I feel the kind of love, success and the numbers (it has received) prove that nothing goes beyond the love for a movie. Nothing goes beyond movies," the actor said at the event. The actor’s statement is doing rounds on social media.

The director thanked the cast and crew of Animal for contributing towards the success of the film, set against the backdrop of a troubled father-son relationship."Every character was very special and striking in the film and it happened because of everybody's hard work. Thank you to the producer, lyricist, musicians, and thank you everyone," said Reddy Vanga, who courted controversy for his previous films Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh.

The director of the film, Sandeep Reddy Vanga posed for the paparazzi in a maroon outfit at the bash. The cast and the makers of the film posed for the shutterbugs and also kept a finger on their lips imitating Bobby’s character of Abrar signature action in the film. Suresh Oberoi was accompanied by his actor-son Vivek Oberoi at the bash. Other members of the fraternity like Ram Gopal Varma, Farah Khan, Prem Chopra, Riteish Deshmukh, his wife Genelia, Ayushmann Khurrana and Tamannaah were also present at the event.
