Sam Bahadur Box Office Collections Day 1: Vicky Kaushal film off to a decent start

Vicky Kaushal headlines the war biopic drama Sam Bahadur. The film hit the big screen on December 1, alongside Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal. As per early estimates, the movie is off to a modest start at the box office. 

Sam Bahadur trails behind Animal 

Sam Bahadur and Animal released on the same day, giving rise to an imperative comparison in the box office collections of the two movies. While the Ranbir Kapoor starrer has scripted history by collecting nearly ₹61 crores on its opening day, Sam Bahadur is yet to make a mark at the ticketing counter. As per early estimates of Sacnilk, the Vicky Kaushal film has minted ₹5.50 crore in domestic collections on the day of its release. 

Sam Bahadur marks the third outing of Vicky Kaushal in the year after Zara Hatke Zara Bachke and The Great Indian Family. The film has surpassed the opening day numbers of both the previous outings. While Zara Hatke Zara Backe minted ₹5.49 crore on day 1, The Great Indian Family struggled with a meagre ₹1 crore on the release day.

Sam Bahadur faces stiff competition from Animal

Sam Bahdur is a war biopic, while Animal is a mass entertainer action flick. The Ranbir Kapoor film showed a positive trend in the advance booking, which translated into the first-day collections as well. As per early estimates by Sacnilk, the film has minted nearly ₹61 crore in India and has breached the ₹100 crore mark worldwide on the day of release.

Sam Bahadur is directed by Meghna Gulzar and is headlined by Vicky Kaushal. The film is set against the backdrop of the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War when Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw led the Indian Army to liberate Bangladesh. It also stars Fatima Sana Sheikh, Neeraj Kabi, Edward Sonnenblick and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub. It is produced by Ronnie Screwvala, under the banner of RSVP Movies. The film relased on December 1.
