Viral/ Sandeepa Dhar revisits abandoned Srinagar home 30 years after 'being forced to run overnight'

Actress Sandeepa Dhar took to her social media handle earlier today and shared the news of her return to her ancestral house in Kashmir after over three decades years. The actress shared a video in which she could be seen entering the house, and sharing her thoughts as she walked along.

'It's surreal to return to Srinagar'

Around 1993, Sandeepa Dhar and her family were forced to leave their ancestral home (and the town) in Srinagar due to political conflict. Sandeepa could be seen saying in the video, “It’s really really crazy that I am finally seeing it. After so many years. Let me take you along, and show you the house.”

Sandeepa took a walk around the property, first showing the huge garden that was in front of the house. While strolling in the garden, she recollected that the apple tree that used to be there was a little smaller than before. She then went on to pluck an apple from the tree, saying “You can’t get a fresher apple than this.” 

Sandeepa also described the feeling of returning to the house as “surreal”. The video concluded with the actress standing on the balcony of the house, calling out to her companion shooting the video, recalling the specific hand gesture they would use to call out for someone at a distance. 

‘What remains are memories’

The actress also added a detailed caption along with the video, which read, “30 years back, my family was forced to run overnight from Srinagar, Kashmir. So we packed whatever we could in just 1 suitcase & fled. And now, 30 years later we returned to whatever remains of our home. The empty house stands & What remains are the memories that we had made almost 3 decades ago. And this time we don’t have to run. Hopefully never ever!”

Sandeepa is most famous for her work in shows like Mai and Dr Arora. She had also appeared in cameo roles in films like Heropanti and Dabangg 2.
