Was sarcastically called Amitabh Bachchan, recalls Mishra
Sanjay Mishra was speaking with YouTuber Sidharth Kannan while promoting his upcoming movie Guthlee Ladoo, when he opened up about all kinds of resistance and discouragement he faced in his early years of acting. Mishra recalls people being taken aback when Mishra told them about his acting aspirations. He added, “They would say, oh you are also from NSD?’ hinting at my physical build which is not like a conventional hero’s. I had no ‘swag’ according to them, you see.”
Mishra also recalled a memory when he got late for a film shoot in Film City because his auto-rickshaw driver ditched him midway. When Mishra finally walked on foot and got late by the time he reached the sets, the assistant on the sets scolded him, sarcastically taunting, “Aur aa gaye superstar Amitabh Bachchan.” (Finally you arrive, like superstar Amitabh Bachchan.”)
Mishra added, however, that none of these remarks and taunts dissuaded him, because he had decided he would not return. The Cirkus actor added, “It used to hurt, but I needed to take all the bitter words like medicine because I also knew if there is any place to stay, it’s here only.. in this industry.”

Mishra further spoke about how he was even willing to explore other filmmaking departments like editing or art director if it meant continuing to work in movies. “Kyunki Pyaar to cinema se hi tha" (Because I was in love with cinema), Mishra added. Mishra also added that struggles like these ‘make an artist solid.’
Sanjay Mishra won the Filmfare Critics Award last year for his performance in Vadh. Additionally, he also earned a lot of appreciation for his performances in Cirkus and Bhool Bhulaiyya 2 last year. His upcoming film, Guthlee Ladoo is scheduled to release on October 13.
