Tejas box office collection day 1: Kangana Ranaut starrer makes a decent opening

Kangana Ranaut's highly-anticipated aerial action film, Tejas, hit the theaters with a lukewarm reception at the box office on its opening day. As per early estimates by Sacnilk, the film managed to collect ₹1.25 crore on its first day of release, with occupancy reported at a mere 6.83 percent on Friday. The film's performance was particularly modest in the three national cinema chains - PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis - where it amassed ₹85 lakhs on the first day, contributing 60 percent to the overall business.

Kangana Ranaut's box office struggles

Tejas marks yet another chapter in Kangana Ranaut's recent struggles at the box office. Her last film to make significant numbers dates back to 2019 with Manikarnika. The actress' image and goodwill have seen a decline since then, owing to her frequent comments on various issues, often perceived as publicity stunts. 

As Tejas moves forward, it aims for an opening weekend collection of ₹6 crore in an ideal scenario. From that point, the film's lifetime collection is estimated to reach around ₹10 crores, as per Bollywood Hungama report. Reportedly, the film is made on a budget of ₹45 crore.

Tejas centers around the remarkable journey of Tejas Gill, an Air Force pilot. The film's core objective is to inspire and evoke a profound sense of national pride among every Indian. Kangana Ranaut's character embarks on a mission to rescue hostages from terrorists in the film.
