Tejas, touted as India's first aerial action film, hit the big screens on October 27. The movie is headlined by Kangana Ranaut and has collected a dismal amount at the box office. The action film has raked only ₹4.25 crore, after its four-day theatrical run, as per Sacnilk’s early estimates.

What is Tejas box office collection?

Tejas marks the directorial debut of Sarvesh Mewara and the second outing of Kangana Ranaut for the year, after Chandramukhi 2. The film opened to a meagre ₹1.23 crore at the domestic box office. On the following weekend, the movie collected ₹1.3 crore on Saturday and ₹1.20 crore on Sunday. On its first Monday of release, the Kangana Ranaut starrer managed to rake in only ₹0.50 crore, as per early estimates provided by Sacnilk

Tejas’s underperformance comes after the last outings of Kangana Ranaut also failed to make a mark at the ticketing counter. The actress’s last project, Chandramukhi 2 earned a total of ₹39.21 crore in all languages together, much less than what was anticipated of the film. The Hindi version of the movie minted only ₹0.81 crores, as per Sacnilk. Before Chandramukhi 2, the actress starred in Dhaakad which was released in May 2022. The film has minted ₹2.58 crore at the domestic box office. Kangana Ranaut has been witnessing a string of flops lately.

Kangana Ranaut requests people to watch films in theatres

Amid the average performance of Tejas at the box office, Kangana Ranaut took to her Instagram on October 27 to urge her followers to watch films in theatres. In a video plea, the Queen actress said, "After Covid, our Hindi film industry has not been able to recover completely. 99 per cent of the films are not even getting a chance from the audience. I know that in today's times, everyone has a phone and a TV, but community viewing is very important, Theatres are a very important part of our lives just like dance, stage, Kathakali and other dance forms have been very integral to our culture and social life. I request multiplex audiences that if they have enjoyed movies like Uri, Neerja and Mary Kom then they will certainly enjoy Tejas in cinema halls."

She captioned her post, "Even before COVID theatrical footfalls were dipping drastically post covid it has become seriously rapid. Many theatres are shutting down and even after free tickets and many reasonable offers drastic footfall decline is continuing. Requesting people to watch films in theatres and enjoy them with family and friends or else they ( theatres) won’t be able to sustain. Thanks (sic)."
