Yash Raj Films released the official trailer of The Great Indian Family earlier today (September 12). It stars Vicky Kaushal and Manushi Chhillar in the lead roles. The film also marks Vijay Krishna Acharya’s return to direction five years after Thugs of Hindostan.

Bhajan Kumar has an existential crisis
The story follows Ved Vyas Tripathi aka Bhajan Kumar (Vicky Kaushal), who is the heir to a religiously inclined musical troupe from a small town in Uttar Pradesh. Bhajan Kumar has labelled himself the "undisputed king of Bhajan" programs in his town. However, his pious image also comes in the way of his love life. Most importantly, The Great Indian Family (TGIF) promises to touch upon the subject of communal harmony as the protagonist confronts his past.
The film has an ensemble cast of Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra, Yashpal Sharma, Sadiya Siddiqui, Alka Amin, Srishti Dixit, Bhuvan Arora, Aasif Khan and Ashutosh Ujjwal. In the trailer, Vicky promised that the film would be for the family audience.
Manushi Chillar's second Hindi film
The Great Indian Family is the second Bollywood film of Manushi Chhillar, who was crowned the Miss World in 2017. She made her acting debut with the Akshay Kumar starrer Samrat Prithviraj last year.
Srishti Dixit makes her Bollywood debut with this project. Written and directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, The Great Indian Family will hit the theatres on September 22.
