Vishal Bhardwaj reveals Irrfan Khan sang lullabies to himself to ease pain in his last days
In a recent interview, Vishal Bhardwaj has opened up about the final days of late actor Irrfan Khan, who worked with him on Maqbool, 7 Khoon Maaf and Haider.
Vishal Bhardwaj and Irrfan Khan collaborated on the 2003 film Maqbool, after which they received massive popularity. The actor-director duo worked together again in 7 Khoon Maaf and then Haider! They remained good friends until the passing of the actor in 2020. In a new interview, Vishal Bhardwaj opened up about the actor’s final days and how he was in pain.
Vishal Bhardwaj reveals he has recordings from Irrfan Khan
In an interview with Midday, Vishal Bhardwaj opened up about his bond with Irrfan Khan. He recalled the actor being in pain in his last days and had resorted to singing himself to sleep. He added that he has recordings from the actor.
He recalled, “I have his recordings. During his last days, he would be in too much pain so he couldn’t sleep. He used to sing lullabies to himself and he used to send me those recordings. Ki ab aapko meri acting ke sath mera gana bhi sunna padega, Vishal saab (Along with my acting, you’ll have to listen to my songs as well).” The filmmaker also shared that he has a script written in tribute of the late actor. He shared, “I wrote a script on that. I gave my tribute through a script called ‘Irrfan aur main’. That has the whole account of how we were both in touch (during his last days)…”
When Vishal Bhardwaj shared he remembers Irrfan Khan in every film
Vishal has been vocal about his fondness for the late actor Irrfan Khan. In an old interview with Pinkvilla, the filmmaker said, “You miss Irrfan in every film. Every film I see, I make, when I see good cinema I miss Irrfan. That is the biggest loss, personal loss to me, and I think for the whole industry.”
