When Hrithik Roshan revealed Hollywood action icons inspired his Dhoom 2 character

Hrithik Roshan’s iconic film Dhoom 2 completed 17 years of its release today. Dhoom 2 marked a significant landmark for Hrithik Roshan because it was his first big hit outside his father Rakesh Roshan’s production house. 3 years ago, Hrithik had talked about his working experience on the film, while also revealing the actors who he took inspiration from for the part.

Dhoom 2 was my induction into school of sexy, Hrithik had penned

Taking to his Instagram page, Hrithik Roshan had penned a long note recalling his working experience on the iconic action film, which took the Dhoom franchise to next level of popularity. Roshan wrote in his note, “Dhoom 2 was my induction into the school of how to be sexy. Something I had to be taught hands on by our fabulous ANAITA.”

Hrithik was referring to his costume designer Anaita Shroff Adjania who designed all his popular looks in the movie, including the ripped vest and torn jeans with a scarf look in the title song sequence, where Roshan floored everyone with his swag and smooth dance moves.

Further talking about his character Aryan, Roshan stated, “Aryan was a side of me I didn’t know existed . I remember breathing and meditating many times a day to find that composure which I could envision Aryan having but had no idea how to produce.”

Bruce Willis, Brosnan and Bachchan were my inspirations: Dhoom 2 actor

Roshan then revealed that Bruce Willis, the James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan and Amitabh Bachchan were his inspirations for the part. He mentioned that he took a leaf out of Bachchan’s acting style ‘for his pauses.’ “I kinda threw them into a mixer and came out Aryan. I think a bit of Aryan will live on forever inside me.” 

Roshan also took a moment to acknowledge his co-stars’ contribution, and wrote, “And it had the best cast of friends ever!” Besides Hrithik Roshan, Dhoom 2’s cast comprised of actors like Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan and Bipasha Basu. 

 Produced by Yash Raj Films, Dhoom 2 was directed by Sanjay Gadhvi who passed away recently due to a heart attack.
