When Zeenat Aman 'burst into a flood of tears' while filming Satyam Shivam Sundaram song
Zeenat Aman, who starred alongside Shashi Kapoor in Satyam Shivam Sundaram, opened up on an incident that happened before the filming of the song from the film.
Zeenat Aman has been keeping her fans updated by sharing anecdotes related to her films on Instagram. On Tuesday, she shared a photo from the song Chanchal Sheetal Nirmal Komal from her iconic film Satyam Shivam Sundaram (1978), co-starring Shashi Kapoor. She opened up about the "drama that went on behind the scenes" of the song.
2 things you need to know
- Satyam Shivam Sundaram was produced and helmed by Raj Kapoor.
- The film also starred young Padmini Kolhapure as young Zeenat Aman.

The 71-year-old actress took to her Instagram handle and called the dance sequence a trip to "psychedelic". She added, "Giant mushrooms, pink clouds, bellowing smoke, enormous flowers, sexy outfits, otherworldly props…this fantasy song sequence from Satyam Shivam Sundaram went the whole nine yards. I’d go as far as to call it something of a psychedelic trip!"
She revealed that when Raj Kapoor narrated the dance sequence of the song Chanchal Sheetal Nirmal Komal to her, she burst into tears. She reasoned that Raj Kapoor had a taste for classical dance and conceptualised the song with that in his mind. However, it was Zeenat's first time with the RK banner, and she was not a classical dancer. So when Kapoor narrated the song sequence, she started crying as the actress thought she would make a fool of herself.

"When Raj ji narrated the sequence to me, I burst into a flood of tears! I was convinced I would make a fool of my self and sink the entire film. Through hiccups and sobs I explained my predicament to him. Rajji laughed. “What will I do with you convent girls and your two left feet?” he exclaimed," she wrote.
How did Raj Kapoor resolve Zeenat Aman's problem?
The veteran actress revealed that Raj Kapoor then went up to the legendary choreographer Sohanlal and asked him to teach her mudras that were a bit easy. "He did do something of course. He instructed legendary choreographer Sohanlal to teach me mudras but not any complicated choreography," wrote Zeenat.
She concluded by writing, "I highly recommend that you find the video on YouTube and give it a watch. It’s a visual delight, and I would love to hear your thoughts on it." Satyam Shivam Sundaram is considered one of the cult classics which was based on a social issue about the differences between physical and spiritual love.
