Amid the buzz that Anushka is pregnant with her second child, an old video clip from an interview with Simi Garewal has resurfaced, in which the actress is seen sharing her thoughts about marriage and her career.

In the resurfaced video, when Simi Garewal asks Anushka Sharma about the significance of marriage in her life, the actress responds by saying, "Very important. I want to be married. I want to have kids. And, when I am married, I probably don’t want to be working."

Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli tied the knot in a private ceremony in Italy on December 11, 2017. Following her wedding, Anushka continued to work in films, appearing in projects like Pari, Sanju, Sui Dhaaga, and Zero. However, her last on-screen appearance was in the 2021 film Qala. Since then, she took a break from acting but remained connected to the entertainment industry through her role as a producer for projects such as Bulbbul and Pataal Lok.

In a 2019 interview with Vogue, Anushka Sharma spoke about her decision not to sign any films immediately after her marriage. She explained, "That’s a conscious decision. I wanted to take a couple of months off after Zero. After I got married, it was like a whirlwind." The actress further shared how the hectic pace of her professional life had taken a toll on her and she wanted to prioritise her well-being and family.

Anushka said that during the early months of her marriage, she spent a mere 21 days with her cricketer-husband Virat. She stated that spending time with her husband was important given their demanding schedules that often kept them apart. She shared that she chose to take a step back from her acting career to focus on her relationship.
