Did Sanjay Khan injure Zeenat Aman's eye? Here's a lowdown on couple's controversial relationship

Veteran Bollywood actress Zeenat Aman took to her social media platform to share a deeply personal revelation about an injury she suffered four decades ago which damaged the muscles around her right eye, causing her eyelid to droop and obstruct her vision. Aman disclosed that advancements in medical science have finally enabled her to regain her vision after all these years.

For years, there have been rumours that Aman suffered this eye injury because Sanjay Khan had "hit" her. Sanjay and Aman's relationship was in the news in the 80s for more reasons than one. They reportedly met on the set of Abdullah in 1980. However, at the time, Sanjay was married and had three kids. Rumours swirled that Sanjay had an extramarital affair with Aman. They married and later reports surfaced that Sanjay was an abusive husband.

When Zeenat Aman opened up about her "injury"

Touching upon her injury, Zeenat Aman had shared on Simi Garewal's show, "For many years, in my mind, it’s been obliterated because I think that’s what the human mind does. When there is something distinctly unpleasant, you just close your mind to it and pretend that it never happened and you promise yourself that it will never happen again. And that’s how you cope."

When Sanjay Khan dismissed claims of assault

Later, Sanjay Khan denied the allegations in a podcast interview with Hrishikesh Kannan. Khan dismissed the claims as a "PR attack" against him and contended that the injury to Aman's eye was hereditary, not a result of any altercation between them.

In 2018, Sanjay Khan published his autobiography, The Best Mistakes of My Life, but he did not mention the alleged assault incident. Rather, he wrote about a different history and likened himself and Aman to the prince and the princess after their roles in the 1980 movie Abdullah.
