In a recent interview, Kumar Sanu opened up about his rivalry with Udit Narayan and said it was a healthy competition.
Veteran singers, Kumar Sanu and Udit Narayan have given many chart-topping songs to the music world in the 1990s and the early 2000s. They were the voices behind most of the leading actors. However, not many knew they were said to be rivals during that time. Now, in a recent interview, the singer opened up about his rivalry and said it was a healthy competition.
Kumar Sanu reflects on his infamous rivalry with Udit Narayan
Speaking to Bollywood Bubble, the singer said that there is no rivalry between them and they share a great friendship. He said, "These are not rivals, this is a healthy competition. People have made this a rivalry and nothing else. We are good friends, we do show together, travel together and eat together."
He added that when he entered the industry at that time Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla starrer Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak released and the music of the film was a great hit. However, as Udit's market was about to open, Aashiqui came in 1989 (in which Kumar Sanu has sung) and this can be one of the reasons why people pitted him against Udit Narayan.
"When I entered the industry, Udit ji’s film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak was released and it was a massive hit. Udit has sung the songs fantastically and there are no comparisons. His market was about to open and that time Aashiqui came in 1989, so rivalry could have come in between," Kumar Sanu said.
