Priyanka Chopra recently opened up about her father Ashok Chopra's demise. In an interview with fashion editor Tiffany Reid, she reflected on her personal journey and the impact of her father's passing on her life. She said she affectionately referred to herself as her father's "Daddy's Lil Girl."

Priyanka Chopra opened up about the profound influence her father, Ashok Chopra, had on her life and the wake-up call his passing provided. She confessed that, prior to her father's death, her relentless focus on building her career led her to overlook her personal life. She acknowledged how she had been so immersed in her professional pursuits that she missed significant family moments. "I don't remember how many of my mother's birthdays I have forgotten or I might have missed," she shared. This included forgetting to call her parents during her 20s and even missing important occasions like Diwali because of work commitments abroad.

She added that the passing of her father marked a turning point in Priyanka's life. She expressed how his illness was a poignant moment that made her recognise the fleeting nature of life. As she succinctly put it, “Life is short, and we worry about so many trivial things when there are so many big things for us to worry about.”

“I don't remember how many of my mother's birthdays I have forgotten or I might have missed. How many times I forgot to call her in my 20s? or how many times like I missed Diwali because I am working in Europe and they don't have Diwali here so it's fine. I just skipped and missed and didn't think it was okay till I did. Till my dad died, and I didn't have another Diwali to be with him,” Priyanka said.

Priyanka Chopra's father Ashok Chopra succumbed to cancer in 2013. On various occasions, the actress has publicly expressed her love and fondness for her late father.  On her father's birthday in August this year, she shared a childhood picture of herself with her father. In the touching post, she wrote, "Happy birthday dad. We miss u. Everyday."
