Sharda Sinha's Husband Demise Was A Deathblow For Her, Son Recalls, 'Unko Bahut Bada Jhatka Laga'

Sharda Sinha Dies At 72: Popular folk singer Sharda Sinha, known as ' Bihar Kokila' for her melodious rendition of Chhath and folk songs lost her battle with cancer at a hospital in New Delhi on Tuesday. She was 72. The singer's demise has come as a shock to her followers who commenced the celebration of the Chhath Puja on November 5. In an Instagram live session, her son Anshuman, shared how the death of her husband Brajkishore Sinha left the singer ‘heartbroken’ and took away her will to live.

For Sharda Sinha, her husband's death was the final straw in her health battle 

Sharda Sinha was battling multiple myeloma since 2017. However, Bihar Kokila put up a strong battle against the ailment and even continued to release songs and fulfil work commitments amid treatment. It was her husband's passing on September 22 that completely broke her spirits. Her son Anusham, during an Instagram live session, shared that his father's death ‘broke’ the singer.
 

He shared, “Uss shock ne unke manobal ko toda. unko bahut bada jhatka laga, unke will power ko ek bahut bada jhatka laga. woh antrik ladai ladte ladte unko bahut dikkat aayi pitaji ke jane ki wajah se. jis taaqat se woh lad rahi thi, unhe kamzori aa gayi aur bimari chadh gayi. (That shock shook her morale. Her willpower took a strong hit. She fought the last of the battle with a lot of difficulty, because of my father. She felt weak and got seriously ill very quickly).” He continued in Hindi, that after the funeral procession of his father, they brought their mother to the hospital and shifted her to ICU. However, he recalled, despite doctors' best attempts they could not save her.

Sharda Sinha lost her husband Brajkishore on September 22. On September 30, on the occasion of her birthday, the singer took to her social media account to pen a long note for her husband. The post is now doing rounds on social media. She recalled how her husband had a special tradition for her on her birthday. She remembered him getting flowers and making breakfast for her while other family members would still be asleep. Sharda also recalled meeting him in the hospital on September 17, days before his passing away.  

Sharing a photo from her meeting with her husband, Sharda wrote, “I still feel his presence. My kids, Vandana and Anshuman, still feel that their father is just out for some work and will return soon. This is a picture from our last meeting. The silence and his absence are killing me. ‘Mai jald hi aaungi, maine bas yehi kaha tha unse.'”

Sharda Sinha tied the knot with Brajkishore in 1970. Initially, the singer faced roadblocks from her in-laws vis-a-vis her music career. However, she credited her husband for always standing by her and supporting her professional endeavours despite his family's discouragement.
