Dulquer's King of Kotha has dull 1st week at box office, RDX makes headway on Onam

Dulquer Salmaan has delivered several box office successes in the Malayalam film industry. He’s worked in Tamil, Telugu, and even Hindi films, demonstrating his range and establishing himself as a pan-India star. While his latest film, King of Kotha was expected to do well, it crashed at the box office within a week.

King of Kotha has a dismal box office run 

The Abhilash Joshiy directorial witnessed a decent opening and minted Rs 6.85 crore countrywide. However, its collection started to dip from its second day and never recovered. After minting Rs 2.6 crore on day 2, the film dropped continuously.

After a week of its release, King of Kotha has earned Rs 17.17 crore. Worldwide, the film is said to have minted Rs 31.35 crore, which indicates that the road to recovery is long and hard. It was reportedly made on a budget of Rs 50 crore, and it’s unlikely that the film will break even. 

RDX grosses more than King of Kotha 

As per trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan, the relatively modest release RDX has crossed the worldwide gross of King of Kotha. The Shane Nigam, Neeraj Madhav film RDX: Robert Dony Xavier, was released on August 25, a day after the Dulquer Salmaan starrer was released.

While King of Kotha received mediocre to negative box office collections, RDX received critical praise. Another film, Gandheevadhari Arjuna starring Varun Tej, has also performed poorly at the box office.
