Mark Margolis, who was known for his performances in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, died Thursday at Sinai Hospital in New York City following a short illness. His son Morgan confirmed the news.

Mark Margolis died at the age of 83. His son, actor and Knitting Factory Entertainment CEO Morgan Margolis announced that the veteran star died on Thursday following a short illness. He breathed his last at Sinai Hospital in New York City where he was admitted.

Who was Mark Margolis?

The late star made his debut in Hollywood with an uncredited role in The Opening of Misty Beethoven (1976). However, it was in 1983, he rose to fame after portraying a supporting role in Scarface. His other noted roles include Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994), and the films of Darren Aronofsky: π (1998), Requiem for a Dream (2000), The Fountain (2006), The Wrestler (2008), Black Swan (2010), and Noah (2014).

He was last seen this year in a TV show titled Your Honor, starring Bryan Cranston and Hunter Doohan. In the series, he appeared in two episodes as Carmine Conti.

Breaking Bad writer pays tribute to Mark Margolis

Thomas Schnauz, a writer and producer on Breaking Bad, took to his X account, formerly known as Twitter, and recalled times spent with the actor. He wrote, "Incredibly sad news. Mark made me laugh every time we were together on set. I was lucky to have his character Tio walk and talk and teach his nephews a lesson in my very first ep of Breaking Bad. My love to his family and many, many friends.
