A statement was made on Bill Cosby's Twitter account, after he left prison on Wednesday, following the Pennsylvania Supreme Court's overturning of his sexual assault conviction.

The statement says "I have never changed my stance nor my story. I have always maintained my innocence. Thank you to all my fans, friends and supporters who stood by me through this ordeal. Special thanks to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court for upholding the rule of law. #BillCosby"

The state's highest court ruled that Cosby was unfairly prosecuted because a previous district attorney had promised he wouldn't be charged.

The justices found that Cosby relied on that promise when he agreed to testify without invoking his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination in a lawsuit brought against him by Temple University employee Andrea Constand.

Cosby went to prison after he was found guilty of drugging and molesting Constand at his suburban Philadelphia mansion.
