There are many monsters who have cemented their legacy in pop culture, but very few of them come close to the iconic status of the Godzilla. First appearing in Japanese filmmaker Ishirō Honda 1954 film, Godzilla, the fictional monster has become a worldwide pop culture icon. Since its' first appearance, the Kaiju, which is Japanese for giant monstershave appeared in various films over the decades, featured in the Marvel comics and even got a car named after itself. In the decades-long film franchise, numerous kaijus have appeared on-screen and enthralled filmgoers.

1. King Ghidorah

The best Godzilla of them all was King Ghidorah. It first appeared in Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster (1964). King Ghidorah was a three-headed, two-tailed, winged dragon that was a destructive creature from space who had caused chaos on Venus before heading to Earth. The three-headed monster also appeared in the 2019 Hollywood film, Godzilla: King of The Monsters. 

2. Mechagodzilla

Another classic kaiju is Mechagodzilla. It was first introduced in the film Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla, released in 1974. The film marks the first appearance of Mechagodzilla in the franchise. This kaiju was a worthy adversary to the venerable Godzilla. Mechagodzilla was later given a much-deserved tribute in the Steven Spielberg's pop-culture homaging sci-fi blockbuster Ready Player One.

3. Biollante

This kaiju first appeared in the 1989 Japanese movie, Godzilla vs. Biollante. Biollante is a massive, planet-like creature with lethal attack vines, dozens of teeth, and the ability to regenerate. Biollante was another worthy adversary to the Godzilla, and filmgoers absolutely enjoyed watching this monster on-screen.
