Joker Folie a Deux Director Opens Up About Possibility Of 3rd Film In Joaquin Phoenix Led Franchise

Joker 3: Folie à Deux release is just a few months away and fans are eagerly waiting for it. Directed by Todd Phillips, this sequel to the 2019 billion-dollar hit Joker stars Joaquin Phoenix alongside Lady Gaga as the infamous duo, Joker and Harley Quinn. Recently, the filmmaker revealed a few details about the film and also talked about the possibility of taking the franchise forward.

Will there be Joker 3?

In an interview with Variety, when Phillips was asked about his plans for a third installment in the Joker franchise, he instantly replied, “It was fun to play in this sort of sandbox for two movies, but I think we’ve said what we wanted to say in this world."

He also talked about the budget for the sequel. There were reports that the film’s budget soared past the $200 million mark. Denying the same, he said, “Absurd…I read these stories, and it seems like they’re on the side of the multinational corporations. They’re like, ‘Why does it cost so much?’ They sound like studio executives. Shouldn’t people be happy that we got this money out of them, and we used it to go hire a bunch of crew people who can then feed their families?”

All about Joker: Folie à Deux

The much-anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed 2019 film Joker, titled Joker: Folie à Deux, will hit theatres on October 4. The film will make its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival in September.

Joker: Folie a Deux brings Joaquin Phoenix back as the violent and mentally ill Arthur Fleck and introduces Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn. The trailer takes us into Arkham Asylum where Joker is locked up at the end of the first film. 

The trailer depicts Joker meeting Harley Quinn for the first time at the mental asylum. Their romance blossoms in the asylum's alleys, and they soon plan to wreak havoc on Gotham City.
