Kevin Jonas opens up about his cancer diagnosis
Taking to his Instagram handle, Kevin shared a video documenting his journey before and after the surgery. The video begins with Jonas lying down in the hospital and showing his cancerous mole. He says, "So today I am getting a basal cell carcinoma removed from my head”, he said while positioning the camera closer to the exact location of the skin abnormality. “Yes, that is an actual little skin cancer guy that started to grow, and now I have to get surgery to remove it,” he continued. “So here we go,” the singer said before the video switched to a clip of him after removing the basal cell carcinoma.
Kevin showed himself lifting the gauze that covered his fresh scar and said, “Alright, I’m all done. Now it’s time to heal, heading home.” Before concluding the video, the Burnin’ Up hitmaker urged his fans to check their moles.
In the caption, he wrote, “Friendly reminder to get your moles checked,” followed by folded hands.
What is Basal cell carcinoma?
According to the Mayo Clinic, Basal cell carcinoma is a type of skin cancer that "begins in the basal cells — a type of cell within the skin that produces new skin cells as old ones die.” It often appears as a slightly "transparent bump" on the skin, though it can take other forms.”
Meanwhile, The Jonas Brothers are currently on a break from touring. They last performed in Cancun, Mexico on April 30.
