Kirsten Dunst shares a sweet throwback to Spider-Man days, drops cute snap of son

Kirsten Dunst featured in the original Spider-Man trilogy. She played the role of Mary Jane Watson, the love interest to Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker. After making three consistent appearances as Mary Jane in Spider-Man (2002), Spider-Man 2 (2004) and Spider-Man 3 (2006), the Spider-Man franchise was rebooted in 2012. After almost 17 years since she played the role, Dunst shared an adorable throwback to her Spider-Man days.

Kirsten Dunst recalls being MJ

Taking to Instagram, Dunst shared a picture of her son James where he held a Spider-Man themed umbrella. She wrote in the caption, “Has no clue his mom was MJ,” meaning that her son is not familiar with the old Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies, and instead may be aware of the MJ (Michelle Jones) character in the Tom Holland starrer series, which is played by Zendaya.

When Dunst expressed interest in reprising Mary Jane 

Previously, Dunst had expressed that she would be more than happy to return as Mary Jane in the Spider-Man films. In an interaction with the People's magazine, Kirsten Dunst expressed that she is willing to return as MJ. She said, "Of course, I would. Of course. I've been asked about that a few times. That's a no-brainer. That was a huge part of my career and my life."

The actress further expressed her excitement for the film and added, "It's such a cool legacy to be a part of, and to be the first one and be a Spider-Man fan." Only time will tell whether we will get to see Kirsten once again essaying the role of Mary Jane on-screen.

She clearly seems willing, and Spider-Man: No Way Home has set an example for bringing back several characters from the past so, there are chances of Kristen reprising her role.
