She testified in front of a Congress panel who are looking into strengthening child welfare protections. The 43-year-old also shared that she had been a victim of “parent-approved kidnapping” while she was being institutionalised.

Paris Hilton has always been an advocate of child rights and protection of youth. She testified in order to make Congress make better measures for the protection of children in foster care. The American socialite was sent to Utah boarding school by her parents for being a troubled teen. She detailed her account there which included sexual abuse, physical pain and mental trauma.
She told the Congress panel, “When I was 16 years old, I was ripped from my bed in the middle of the night and transported across state lines to the first of four youth residential treatment facilities.” She added, “These programs promised healing, growth and support but instead did not allow me to speak, move freely or even look out a window for two years.” As per media reports, her voice trembled as she detailed the alleged abuse she suffered – “physical restraint, forced medication, and even sexual assault,” by staff members.

In her testimony, Paris Hilton also spoke about the time when she was sexually abused and tormented. She added, “I was force-fed medications and sexually abused by the staff. I was violently restrained and dragged down hallways, stripped naked and thrown into solitary confinement.” She added that her parents were not to blame in the situation and said they were ‘deceived’ and ‘manipulated’. She gave the testimony in order to improve the grim situation of US child and foster care.
