Ryan Gosling brushes off Simu Liu
The viral video is from the Canada Barbie press event which took place on June 28. Both Gosling and Liu stood for pictures on the red carpet when the Shang-Chi actor attempted to put his hand around Gosling's waist. It seemed like the La La Land star wasn't too fond of the gesture and said “Don’t hold me there, man. I mean, do you want me to touch you like that?”
“You don’t what – oh, it’s too tender? Fair enough,” Liu responded, before stepping away from Gosling. When the video was posted online, many assumed the two were involved in some sort of feud, Liu quickly caught on and refuted the assertion on Instagram.
The actor shared a picture with Gosling on his Instagram story from the same event, in which he was seen smiling alongside The Notebook actor. He wrote in the caption, “I'd beach off with this Kenadian again in a heartbeat. He is the best human in every way, especially when he jokes around with us on the carpet and on set, infecting all of us with his Kenergy.”
Simu Liu supports Hollywood Strike
He went on to address the Hollywood strike in the same post and added: “Now let's get back to the issues that matter, like supporting our striking actors and writers fighting for fair wages!”
The 160,000-member union that represents actors recently joined the writers' strike, which is currently in its second week. The writers are demanding, among other things, better pay and guarantees that they won't lose their jobs to artificial intelligence (AI). In fact, Barbie was one of the final films whose stars could promote the movie before the strike was in effect.
