American television series The Curse has resurfaced back in the news following its early November release. In a hilarious turn of events, The Curse leads Nathan Fielder and Emma Stone have recreated a satirical trailer parodying the same for the soon-to-release Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell starrer Anyone But You. Taking the joke a step ahead, Nathan Fielder has also shared a sarcasm-laced 'open letter' as is expected of actors in real-life situations like these.

Nathan Fielder's issues statement addressing the parody trailer

Nathan Fielder, who leads The Curse along side Emma Stone, took to his official X handle to share an 'open letter' addressing the very parody he created. Striking the right, albeit faux balance between miffed and dignified, Fielder's note jokingly accused the marketing team at Sony Pictures - which is producing Anyone But You - of copying The Curse. The note also carried a socially-relevant quip about avoiding usage of AI - which is exactly what was used to generate the parody trailer. The note ended with Fielder expressing support for Anyone But You, promising to watch the film, regardless of this self-stoked 'controversy'.

Excerpts from his note read, "I want to be very clear - we shot this promo over six months ago, and I am seriously concerned that the marketing team at Sony Pictures somehow saw our promo and copied it. I personally will not be pursuing legal action...I know that both Emma and myself will personally be booking front row seats to Anyone But You on opening night."

What is the joke?

For the unversed, Nathan Fielder and Emma Stone parodied their own trailer to fit the aesthetics and storyline of the Anyone But You teaser.

What is interesting about this parody is how similar the two videos turned out despite belonging to completely different genres. Anyone But You will hit theatres on December 22. The Curse is currently available for streaming on Showtime.
