An adaptation of the 1934 classic, A Star is Born starring Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga turned out to be a critical and commercial success. It marked the directorial debut of Bradley and earned 7 Academy Awards nominations, including a Best Picture nod for the Silver Linings Playbook star. Apart from all the success the film received, it was also in the news for a brewing romance between Bradley and Lady Gaga.

The speculations surrounding their affair were all but confirmed when the two performed Shallow at the 2019 Oscars.

"Yes, people saw love and—guess what—that's what we wanted you to see," Lady Gaga told Jimmy Kimmel in 2019. Gaga further explained that Bradley had planned out the entire concert in extreme detail, noting, "I knew that he had the vision for how it should go."
