Katrina Kaif Comparisons Backfired: Zareen Khan Reveals Feeling Like A 'Lost Child' In Bollywood
When Zareen appeared on Bharti Singh's podcast, she revealed that her resemblance to Katrina Kaif was actually the biggest hindrance in her career.
Zareen Khan made her Bollywood debut with Veer in 2010. When the actress debuted she often was compared with Katrina Kaif due to their resemblance in looks. But due to this Hate Story 3 actress faced a tough time in the industry. Recently, when Zareen appeared on Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa’s podcast, she revealed that her resemblance to Katrina was actually the biggest hindrance in her career.
Zareen Khan speaks on constant comparisons with Katrina Kaif
During a conversation with comedian Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa on their podcast, Zareen Khan revealed that her debut movie was a "life-changing moment" for her initially.
When asked about her comparison with Katrina Kaif, Zareen said she felt ‘very happy’ being compared to Kat first, but with time her situation got worse. She felt losing her identity in the industry. Zareen also revealed that she received a lot of criticism and at one point she considered staying at home to avoid the noise.
She said in the video, "The film was a life-changing moment for me. Initially, I felt very happy that I was being compared to Katrina Kaif, but within the industry, things kept getting worse. For me, who used to be overweight, being compared to Katrina was huge, but it all backfired. I felt like a lost child in the industry, plus there was hesitation."
She added, “There was a time I was even scared to step out of my house because people would comment on my clothes. That comparison went in a very negative way. I was given so many names, that at one point, I wanted to just sit at home. They all saw me as a failure.”

Haarsh Limbachiyaa further asked her about the difficulties she faced while not receiving good movies. The actress replied that the criticism affected the movie offers she received and even impacted her mental health. Zareen also revealed when she got out of this hard phase.
The actress further added, "I was not getting work for a very long time after Veer. Perception about me changed after the song 'Character Dheela' in Ready. That time, I was taking up whatever work was coming to me. I don't come from a wealthy household, I am the sole breadwinner of my house, so at that time, I wanted a job to run my home. Then Hate Story came, but it was a very weird time in my life..."
