BTS Namjoon shares now deleted picture of him smoking, fans have a divided reaction

South Korean boy band BTS has in a short time established itself as one of the leading names in the world of K-pop, magnified across the globe with their popularity. This also, inadvertently puts the K-pop idols under the spotlight in terms of how they present themselves to the public. BTS Namjoon now finds himself in the midst of controversy, all stemming from a picture shared by the K-pop idol on social media.

BTS Namjoon finds himself in the midst of what appears to be a controversy. The K-pop idol recently took to his Instagram handle to share a casual picture to his stories. The picture in question shows Namjoon staring blankly at the camera as he smokes a cigarette. The picture also shows a friend of the K-pop idol standing behind him.

The , seemingly candid, has drawn a lot of flak online though there have been many fans who have also come out in support of Namjoon, more popularly called RM. For the unversed, smoking is largely looked down upon in South Korea. Also contextual in this regard are the tall standards K-pop idols tend to be held to for their massive global audience. The Instagram story has since been deleted by RM.

What is the internet saying?

RM's fans are divided between those who believe the K-pop idol should not be promoting unhealthy habits among his fans and those who believe that smoking is his personal choice.

An internet user wrote, "yoongi did NOT make the haegeum mv just for yall to turn around and be weird about namjoon smoking" There have also been some memes doing the rounds of the internet - on pictured above professes how RM should have shared the picture to their close friends setting on Instagram. Separately, BTS Namjoon is gearing up to embark on his mandatory military enlistment - an official announcement on this is yet to be made.
