K-pop idol G-Dragon addresses drug-related allegations, body shaving controversy

On the 13th, Yonhap News TV's NewsPrime featured an exclusive interview with K-pop icon G-Dragon (Kwon Ji-yong), where he candidly addressed the recent drug-related allegations. G-Dragon expressed that his decision to do the interview stemmed from a desire to show the public his innocence and convey the truth, despite having reservations.

G-Dragon denies drug allegations

In response to direct questions about drug use, G-Dragon firmly stated, "I did not." He emphasised his expectation for negative test results, asserting that if any substances were detected in his body, it would be impossible as he has never used or been involved with drugs.

He said, "Naturally, it should come out negative." He added, "Once again, I have never used drugs, nor have I ever given or received drugs from anyone, so if any substances were detected in my body, it would be impossible."

G-Dragon's voluntary police attendance

G-Dragon explained his voluntary attendance at the police station, stating, "I attended to prove my innocence as soon as possible." "If we explain it based on the day of the investigation, I actually didn't have much experience, and I was also nervous as I am just a human. That might have been reflected in my behaviour. However, it's not at all what it appears to be. It is completely different from my intentions," he said.

Clarification on the nightclub incident

Addressing the alleged relationship between a nightclub madame and a drug-supplying doctor, G-Dragon asserted, "There is no relationship at all. Once again, I can say that I have no connection to any of the allegations related to drug crimes. So, I can say that."

"If it's that person's statement, I have nothing to say, but I have never received anything from him. I don't even know who this doctor is, and actually, I am curious to find out," he added.

Responding to reports of suspicious packaging found in a nightclub restroom and claims of unusual behaviour, G-Dragon expressed doubts about the credibility of the statements, noting the person's prior record related to drugs. He maintained that the individual's behaviour seemed strange based on what he knew so far.

G-Dragon addresses body shaving controversy

G-Dragon addressed the controversy surrounding reports of shaving his entire body before attending the police station, clarifying that the content of such reports is entirely different from the truth. He emphasised voluntarily submitting his hair, fingernails, and toenails for examination to prove his innocence.

"The content of the article titled 'Shaved Entire Body' is entirely different from the truth. After last year's album activities, I have not bleached or dyed my hair for over a year. The most important point is that I voluntarily submitted my hair, fingernails, and toenails for examination to prove my innocence, even though the police had neither a warrant for communication nor a body search warrant," he said.

He further added, "This seems to be a crucial point of this case. I keep feeling that we are deviating slightly from the essential context of the case. I don't know why other suspicions and misunderstandings continue to grow, but the key issue here is whether or not I used drugs, and I believe it will be proven."
