Irene from Red Velvet was reportedly injured in an airport mob incident. After their appearance on Show! Music Core, the members of Red Velvet were on their way to Thailand for the Supersound Festival when they were met at the airport by a swarm of fans and reporters. Hundreds of fans surrounded the girl group, and all of the members struggled to get through the crowd.

What happened to Irene?

Many people believe Irene was hit the hardest, and one video shows her being pushed from behind. Despite this, Irene is said to have maintained her cool and smiled at fans. Wendy also spoke up, requesting space from fans in both Korean and English.

Other clips show Irene walking slowly and leaning on Seulgi for support, and some fans believe she injured her foot. She is still said to have accepted fan letters and gifts.

Fans are now waiting for an update on Irene's condition from SM Entertainment.

Rumours of Irene not renewing her contract

It was speculated that Red Velvet's Irene would not renew her contract with SM Entertainment. According to recent reports, Irene is not renewing her contract with her long-term label, SM Entertainment. According to reports, this is why Red Velvet has not been active since June 2023, when they completed their 'R to V' world tour. Furthermore, only Seulgi's contract renewal was confirmed by the label, and the other Red Velvet members are expected to have varying contract lengths.

SM Entertainment has not yet commented on Irene, Wendy, Joy, or Yeri's contract terms, but the girl group did previously hint during a live stream this past August that they were preparing to release their third full album. Irene took over as Red Velvet's leader in 2014.
