Kanguva Editor Nishadh Yusuf, 43, Dies By Alleged Suicide 2 Weeks Before Film Release

Nishad Yusuf was a winner of the Kerala State Film Award 2022 for his outstanding work in the movie Thallumala.

Kanguva film editor Nishadh Yusuf was found dead at his house in Kochi in the early hours of Wednesday, October 30, police said per PTI. He was found at around 2 am in an apartment in Panampilly Nagar. A police officer said that the incident was suspected to be a case of suicide, but did not provide further details. He was 43. The news was also confirmed by the Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA). 

FEFKA pays tribute to Nishadh Yusuf

 Taking to its official Facebook handle, FEFKA shared a photo of Nishadh and wrote, “The unexpected demise of Nishadh Yusuf, film editor, who played a major role in determining the contemporary future of the changing Malayalam cinema is not something the film world will be able to quickly accept. Condolences from FEFKA Directors' Union,” read the post. FEFKA also shared that he was working on Mohanlal and Mammootty starrer Bazooka and Alappuzha Gymkhana.

Native of Harippad, Nishadh was a popular film editor in Malayalam and Tamil film industries. He has worked on several hit moves, such as Thallumaala, Unda, One, Saudi Vellakka, and Adios Amigos. His most high-profile project was Kanguva, starring Suriya and Bobby Deol. The movie is awaited to release on November 14.

He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.
