The much-anticipated project stars the Malayalam cinema megastar as Turbo Jose, the central character in this thrilling mass action film and is being scripted by renowned writer-director Midhun Manuel Thomas.

When will Turbo release?

In a recent interview with a leading Malayalam media outlet, Midhun Manuel clarified the plot details of the Mammootty starrer and provided a significant update on its release date. According to the writer, Turbo is expected to hit the screens in May 2024. However, the final release date hinges on the completion of filming and post-production within the projected time frame.

Turbo isn’t a reboot of Kottayam Kunjachan

Addressing speculations, Midhun Manuel Thomas confirmed in another interview that Turbo is not a reboot or sequel to Mammootty's 1990 blockbuster, Kottayam Kunjachan. He revealed that Turbo explores a distinct storyline, being a full-fledged action film infused with humour.

Mammootty is all set to play the role of Turbo Jose, a formidable individual on a mission, while supporting roles are portrayed by renowned actors like Sunil, Raj B Shetty and Antony Varghese among others. The film's final schedule is currently underway in Idukki, Kerala.

Arjun Das to not be a part of Turbo

Contrary to earlier rumours, Tamil actor Arjun Das is not part of the Turbo cast. The film's director of photography is Vishnu Sarma, with editing by Shameer Muhammed, music composition by Justin Varghese, and production design by Shajie Naduvil. Turbo is produced by Mammootty himself under his home banner, Mammootty Kampany. The movie is one of the highly anticipated movies of this year.
