Salaar starring Prabhas postponed to next year? Netizens await official update

Prabhas starrer Salaar Part 1- Ceasefire is one of the most anticipated films of 2023. Coming from KGF Chapter 2 director Prashanth Neel, the film was scheduled to release on September 28. However, social media is abuzz with rumours that the film’s release has been postponed.

Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire stars Prabhas along with Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan and Jagapathi Babu. The film was earlier scheduled to clash with Vivek Aginhotri’s The Vaccine War. The Prabhas starrer has already been delayed several times before September 28 was locked as its release date. 

No update on the film's trailer, even days before the scheduled release date, raised concern among Prabhas' fans. Just a few days earlier, on August 21, the team shifted the post-production location to prevent any leaks. Meanwhile, the film's pre-sales kept getting a good response in the US, leading to further hype for the big-budget actioner. Now, it seems like there will be a new release date for the film and things can be made official at any point soon by Hombale Films.

Who’s saying what 

Taran Adarsh wrote, “Those asking, yes, #Salaar is postponed. #Prabhas.” Industry tracker Manobala also confirmed, “There is a buzz that #Salaar is getting postponed. Nothing official yet.”

Salaar was scheduled to have a massive release in the US, with the distributors booking IMAX screens in 1300 locations. Manobala had previously shared that much before the release, the film had sold advance tickets worth ₹ 2.75 crores. With the news of the film being delayed, the trade analysts said that the ticket amount would be refunded and that the process has been initiated.

While there is no official confirmation about the delay, speculations are growing about the reason behind Salaar delay. Sources told Pinkvilla, “Salaar holds a prominent position among the big films emerging from India, and the creators are determined to meet the high expectations of fans and moviegoers. Unfortunately, the film is not yet ready and requires additional time for post-production.” 

It is also being speculated that the Prabhas starrer has been pushed in order to avoid clashing with Jawan’s theatrical run. Prabhas’ last film Adipurush was also pushed from January to August earlier this year, seemingly to avoid a clash with Pathaan. 

Meanwhile…

It is being said that the film will now be released in January. However, Prabhas starrer Kalki 2898AD is also slated for release at the same time. One out of the two films will be out of the Sankranthi 2024 race.
