Samantha Says 'Change Is The Need Of The Hour' As She Reacts To Kolkata Rape-Murder Case
Samantha Ruth Prabhu has joined the chorus of voices condemning the horrific rape and murder case of Kolkata, urging swift legal action at a recent event.
Samantha On Abhaya Case: The recent Kolkata rape and murder case shook the entire nation and many citizens including celebrities across the country have spoken about it. Alia Bhatt, Twinkle Khanna, Hrithik Roshan and others questioned the state of the laws and why they are not enforced more stringently when it comes to rape and the safety of women in India.
Now Pushpa actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu has also spoken about the heinous crime and laws for rape. At her recent appearance at an event, Samantha addressed the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata and demanded swift change.

During a recent appearance at the World Pickleball League event, Samantha Ruth Prabhu was asked about the rape and murder case of a doctor in Kolkata. She emphasised the urgent need for change, stating that women's safety must be prioritised, "It is the need of the hour, and we are eagerly awaiting this change. I hope it happens soon."
The World Pickleball League (WPBL), owned by Natekar Sports and Gaming, has announced Samantha as the owner of the Chennai franchise. Known for her acting talent, Samantha is making her debut as a sports entrepreneur with this venture.
Other celebrities who condemned the act
Hrithik Roshan has previously called for severe punishment for rape and other serious crimes against women. He said that, “we need to build a society where everyone feels equally safe, but this will take decades.
Progress will hopefully come through educating and empowering our children, leading to a better future generation. In the meantime, he argues that justice requires a firm response to these crimes. A punishment so severe that it deters potential offenders is necessary.”
At present, the CBI is investigating the case, and there is widespread anticipation that the culprits will receive a punishment that serves as a strong deterrent.
