Telugu film Skanda was released on September 28 and caught cinemagoers by surprise. Despite titles such as Jayam Ravi, Nayanthara’s Iraivan and Kangana Ranaut, and Raghava Lawrence’s Chandramukhi 2, Skanda ended up being a strong opening. With an action-oriented core that is similar to the likes of Nani’s Dasara, Skanda saw a decline on its second day at the Indian box office.

3 things you need to know

  • Skanda features Ram Pothineni, Sreeleela, Saiee Manjrekar and Prince Cecil in lead roles.
  • The film is written and directed by Boyapati Sreenu.
  • Skanda was released with a U/A certificate.

Skanda witnesses 56% drop in collections

The Ram Pothineni-Sreeleela starrer film witnessed a sharp decline in its second-day collections. The film brought in Rs 5.05 crore throughout India, which was a 56.09% drop from its opening figure, as per Sacnilk. Initially, the film had opened to Rs 11.5 crore.

On its second day, the film drew the majority of its collections from the Andhra Pradesh/Telangana box office with Rs 5.02 crore. In Hindi, the film only managed to collect Rs 0.03 crore. Now, Skanda’s India net collection for its two days at the box office stands at Rs 16.55 crore.

Skanda makes decent haul worldwide

After grossing Rs 18.20 crore worldwide on its first day, Skanda has minted Rs 22.55 crore globally. Moreover, the makers of the Sreeleela film shared that Skanda has made $200,000 at the USA.

The extended weekend courtesy of Thursday openings has given several films a better opportunity to mint more collections. On Saturday and Sunday, Skanda is expected to see a strong rise in its collections as more and more people pour into the theatres.
