Sunidhi Chauhan and Shreya Ghoshal are considered gems of the music industry. However, often they are pitted against each other owing to their flourishing singing career. Both singers started their careers around the same time and now have made the list of top and most talented singers in the Indian industry. In a recent interview, Sunidhi opened up about her equation with Shreya and said it's a party when they come together.

3 things you need to know

  • Sunidhi Chauhan began her singing career at the age of 13 with the film Shastra (1996).
  • However, she rose to fame with her second song, Ruki Ruki Si Zindagi, from Mast (1999).
  • Shreya Ghoshal, on the other hand, made her debut in the industry with Sanjay Leela Bhasali's Devdas (2002).

Are Sunidhi Chauhan and Shreya Ghoshal rivals?

Speaking to Bollywood Bubble, the singer reacted to the claims that she sees Shreya as her rival. The Mehboob Mere singer said that she doesn't see Shreya as her rival, rather they love meeting each other. Apart from Shreya, she is also on good terms with her other peers, Shilpa Rao, Shalmali Kholgade and Niti Mohan. "You have to look at us when we meet. It's a party. We love meeting each other. We chat, we crack up. We're just here for the music, and the love for it, purely,” Sunidhi said.

Agreeing with the comparisons, Sunidhi said that such comparisons don't affect her as they existed since the 1960s when Lata Mangeshkar was pitted against her younger sister Asha Bhosle or when Kavita Krishnamurthy was compared to Alka Yagnik in the 1980s.

How does Sunidhi Chauhan deal with such comparisons?

The singer added that people love to compare two people. However, it doesn't bother her as they are doing their job, and she is doing hers by ignoring them. “Jahan tak logo ki baat hai, unko ye karna chahiye. Kyunki unko wo karke khushi milti hai (As far as people who say such things are concerned, they should do it because they feel happy doing so). They love to compare two people. I don't know what numbers they derive from doing this. But there's something they're getting out of this. So let them do it. They're doing their job, we're doing ours,” Sunidhi concluded.
